The kids sat shaken up by the ordeal in front of the school.  Gunshots were still being fired inside Jellystone High School and two of their group was still missing:  Yogi Bear and Snagglepuss Mountain Lion.
Cindy kept her arms around Booboo as they shed tears of worry and fear.  Huck sat with them whimpering.
Finally the gunshots inside ceased and the police went inside.  Chief Ralph Bear, Yogi’s father lead the search.
Both kids were found.   One was barely alive and the other dead.  Both were taken out of the school and placed into ambulances.
Hours later the Lost and Found Squad, their parents, Officer Smith, Doggie Daddy, and Augie were waiting for any word on the boys.
When the doctor confirmed Snagglepuss’ death his father was devastated.  Pain and anger and everything else hit him hard.  So hard in fact that that night he would drink himself into unconsciousness and turn into an alcoholic until he would be found a week later clutching his son’s recent school picture dead.  
Yogi woke up in the hospital bed and had slipped into depression.  He blamed himself for the death of his friend and everyone was afraid he would soon join Snag.  His sleep was disturbed by nightmares and he lost his appetite.  He never smiled anymore.
It left everyone wondering what had happened to the two.
Ralph tried everything he could to help him but nothing worked.  Yogi just wasn’t responding to anyone or anything.
Red flags began springing up that Yogi was in deep trouble.  His grades went from A’s to F’s and he quit his job.  He began isolating himself from everyone else.
Ralph knew that he was about to lose his own son to this and refused to let it happen.  He did the only thing he knew to do.  He put him in a mental institution.
It took a long time, three months in fact, before Yogi finally broke down and told what happened to the therapist.  He told of how the gunner had gone for him but Snag had distracted him and was shot in the head twice resulting in his death.  Yogi blamed himself for the murder.
Finally healing began and he was able to get through it.  He was let out and returned to school where Booboo, Huck, and Cindy tackled him in a hug and MADE him tell them what happened.  When he did they comforted each other and led him to the auditorium.  It had been renamed in Snag’s honor and Hamlet was going to be performed.
For the first time in months Yogi actually smiled a little.
Things improved as time went on.  His grades went back up.  Officer Smith actually went to his house to offer Yogi his job back.  Yogi took a deep breath and accepted the offer.
The mall cop was delighted to hear it and reassured Yogi that everything would be fine.
He was delighted to see Yogi agree with him.
It looked like he was going to be ok.
