Jellystone Ranger John Smith held the sobbing little BooBoo as they watched Yogi pace the cage he was in.  His own eyes watered.

Yogi Bear was now feral.  Thanks to a picnic basket planted by an insane scientist the bear held no memories of his former life.

The ranger gulped as he shakingly held his slashed shirt around the small form in his arms.  He would never forget when Yogi had attacked him.  He had tried to get through to him…tried to get to his best friend but it was no use!

The brown eyes that had once shone with mischief and childlike wonder were now replaced with eyes that only shown without recognition.

Had he REALLY wanted Yogi to be this way?  To be a normal bear?

John had gotten wish…and hated it!  He wanted HIS Yogi back!

BooBoo sniffed as he looked at the cage.  "Yogi please…come back!"

Yogi stopped pacing and looked at them before growling!

John looked at him.  "Yogi…if you're there know this: a cure WILL be found!  Don't give up!"

The bear just growled at him before turning his back to them and lying down.

John only sighed before turning away.  He saw one ranger with a shot gun and promptly GLARED at him!  "Put that away!"

"Sir…Yogi's not coming back.  He's gone," the man said gently.

John's glare only hardened.  "I'll be the judge of that!  If it comes to that I'll shoot him myself!"

The man winced and nodded before leaving.  John carried BooBoo to Cindy's

"Are you really going to shoot him?" BooBoo asked fearfully.

John looked at him.  "I'm going to work with him.  See if I can get him to at least remember us.  If…BooBoo if Yogi's spirit is really gone then that's just the shell then yes….I'll shoot him so he can rest in peace and not suffer.  I'll use my own judgment because I believe he's still in there somewhere.  Have hope BooBoo."

The cub nodded and wiped his eyes.  "Promise?"

John nodded.  "I promise."

The human really hoped he could keep it!
Own no one.

This is my first critique so I hope to do well. Once again, this amazing Deviant delivers another emotional roller coaster ride, and this one can go anywhere! When writing a story about characters that already exist it is improtant to keep within the emotional norms and boundaries of those characters, and so far this person has proved them self worthy of those who originally created them. I love the narrative style this one takes and really sets a clear picture of the story's events in the readers mind, all the while setting the tone for the events to come.
